Key Purpose

The Product Developer is responsible for overseeing and managing the development of new products and qualifications across the business ensuring there is clarity and control in terms of planning, people, timings and output.

The Product Developer will ensure that projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.

Working closely with the Product Development Manager, and other key stakeholders across the business, the Product Developer will be innovative in their approach to designing and developing new and existing products and qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Key Stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop new products and qualifications which consider customer’s needs and align to ETAs short, medium and long term strategy.  
  • Ensure ETAs approach to product development meets Ofqual General Conditions and other regulatory requirements including IfATE and DfE.
  • Implement effective and consistent processes, procedures and instructions for successful project delivery.
  • Co-ordinate activities to ensure the smooth running of projects from initiation to completion including effective planning, timely schedules, budgets, clear communication and collaborative working.
  • Monitor performance, manage change and investigate slippage/risk with a solutions based approach to business continuity and achievement of outcomes.
  • Collect and analyse data to gain insights into performance, effectiveness and efficiency, and provide regular project updates and recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to ensure best practice and provide guidance, support and development to the wider team in order to help them achieve their desired outcome.
  • Produce accurate and informative qualification specific documentation, for example Assessment Strategies, Qualification Centre Guides and Sample Assessment Materials which are aligned to ETA brand, style and approach. 
  • Engage with Employers, Providers and other educational institutions to identify opportunities in the education sector, including technological advances and sector specific demands and requirements.

Key Competencies

  • Demonstrative knowledge of working in the education sector, preferably in the field of qualification/curriculum/end point assessment design and development
  • Proven working experience of managing projects
  • Excellent client-facing and internal/external stakeholder management skills
  • Strong organisational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Collaborative and engaging approach
  • APM-PMQ/PRINCE II would be an advantage but is not essential
  • Able to monitor performance, analyse data and draw valid conclusions
  • Proficient in data entry and analysis
  • Ability to work independently

  • Manage effective relationships to ensure outputs are timely and accurate
  • Track the landscape, identifying opportunities for new and exciting products
  • Support, guidance and mentoring across the business to ensure products meet customer and regulatory requirements
